AGILISYS REACHES FINANCIAL CLOSE ON £32M PROGRAMME TO DELIVER ICT SERVICES TO SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN SANDWELL

Monday August 3rd, 2009

Agilisys appointed ICT Partner to the Local Education Partnership (LEP) in Sandwell to transform learning environments

Agilisys, the UK’s most innovative IT services and outsourcing provider, today announced that it has reached financial close on a £32m Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme with Sandwell Council. Agilisys has been appointed ICT Partner to the Local Education Partnership and is part of the winning consortium Environments for Learning (E4L) together with Interserve, Barclays Private Equity and Cambridge Education.

This marks the beginning of a 10-year strategic partnership as E4L joins Sandwell’s Local Education Partnership (LEP). Over the course of the partnership, the LEP has the opportunity to transform up to 20 secondary schools, improving educational facilities and resources and provide a state-of-the-art environment for learners, staff and the community more broadly.

The programme will be rolled out in two waves, with Agilisys providing IT hardware, software, infrastructure and a managed service starting with initial projects at Rowley Learning Campus and the Smethwick Learning Campus.

Councillor Bill Thomas, the Leader of Sandwell Council, said: "This is a really exciting time for Sandwell. E4L has developed proposals with council officers that are both challenging and interesting, and now we are all ready to exploit this superb opportunity to create modern schools of which we can all be proud. The new and improved buildings, facilities and technology that we will be working on with E4L will have an enormous impact on the education and the life chances of every child in Sandwell.”

Kay Andrews, Agilisys CEO Commented: “We’re looking forward to working with our partners to transform learning environments across the borough. This is the start of an important programme which will have a significant impact on educational outcomes for generations to come, and we are delighted to be a part of it.”
