AGILISYS AND CUMBRIA COUNTY COUNCIL AWARDED CONTRACT EXTENSION BY THE OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING

August 12, 2009

Consumer Direct North West Services contract secured until March 2011 with an option to extend to April 2012 – securing scores of jobs for Cumbria

Agilisys, the UK’s most innovative IT and business process service provider, today announced that together with their partner, Cumbria County Council, they have been awarded a contract extension by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) to provide Consumer Direct services for the North West region of the UK.

Consumer Direct is a national government-funded service providing front-line consumer advice by telephone and email, through 11 customer service centres across the UK. Agilisys and Cumbria County Council were together awarded the contract for the North West in 2005, and have been providing services on behalf of the OFT from a state-of-the-art customer services centre in Barrow-in-Furness. Advisors in the Barrow centre respond to enquiries from consumers across the North West in 22 local authorities, handling approximately 200,000 calls a year.

Following a competitive tender process, the contract extension has been awarded to Cumbria County Council and Agilisys to continue to provide services through until March 2011, with an option to extend to March 2012.

Phil Ashcroft commented: ”This is great news for consumers across the North West; for Trading Standards services in the region that work closely with the centre; and for Cumbria and Barrow because of the jobs this contract provides. The combination of public and private sector skills & experience delivers a high quality, reliable and effective service.”

Kay Andrews, Agilisys CEO added: “Our partnership with Cumbria County Council has proved to be a winning combination, bringing together our technical expertise and experience in running customer services centres, together with the Council’s Trading Standards team’s knowledge. In addition this demonstrates the benefits our partnership with the Council can bring to the region.”
