AGILISYS BEGINS WORK WITH NORTH SOMERSET COUNCIL ON £100M SERVICES CONTRACT

1 October 2010

Partnership with Agilisys will deliver more than £13m a year in savings to the Council over 10 years

Agilisys, the UK’s most innovative IT services and outsourcing provider, today announced they have begun working with North Somerset Council on a 10-year, £85m Strategic Partnership. Agilisys, together with business process outsourcer Liberata, will transform and deliver a full range of services to the Council and its citizens, including Customer Services, ICT, Revenues and Benefits, HR & Payroll, Facilities Management, Business Improvement and Procurement.

Agilisys and our partner Liberata, which has enjoyed a successful partnership with North Somerset for the past 15 years, will transform services through innovative and efficient IT solutions, not only improving customer satisfaction, but also delivering significant savings for the Council. When savings from streamlined procurement and the business improvement programme are taken into account, the Agilisys partnership will deliver more than £13m per annum savings against existing budgets. In addition, the Agilisys partnership will be making significant investments of around £4m in programmes to replace the financial management system and make other improvements.

As part of the Partnership, Agilisys will establish a South West regional Centre of Excellence, bringing more than 200 jobs to the area within the first 4 years, as well as generating rental income for the Council. The Partnership will also deliver a wide range of services to Schools, including provision of additional resources such as a dedicated Schools Account Manager.

Today marks the official start of service delivery by Agilisys, coming swiftly after formal contract signing on September 23, and an August preferred bidder decision. Initial transformational projects already underway include replacement of the council’s financial management system, which will provide efficiency gains and improve procurement.

Council Leader, Cllr Nigel Ashton, said: "Although we may not know for some weeks exactly what impact on us the Comprehensive Spending Review will have, we do know that we will need to radically rethink how we deliver valued local services. We have taken early action through this partnering approach, which will save us money, protect services and deliver more jobs into the local economy."

Agilisys CEO Kay Andrews added: “After getting to know the Council and its citizens over the past several months, we are delighted to have been appointed North Somerset’s Strategic Partner, and our team is already in place and delivering results. We have a very strong track record of delivering innovation and transformation in Local Government, which in turn reduces costs and improves customer services. This is critical in the current economic climate and we look forward to working with North Somerset to deliver our joint vision and make a meaningful impact on the council and its residents.”

Dermot Joyce, Liberata Chief Executive, said: “Liberata is delighted to continue to play an integral part in the council’s drive to achieve its objectives and provide an excellent level of customer service for the citizens of North Somerset. The public sector is anticipating severe financial pressure and greater challenges to its service delivery models and this is a great exemplar, in terms of demonstrating smart efficiencies through new ways of working, levels of long term trust and innovation across public-private partners.”
