AGILISYS AND CUMBRIA COUNTY COUNCIL DEVELOP DTI'S SINGLE ADVICE CENTRE FOR UK'S NORTH WEST

28 July 2005

London, UK, 25 July, 2005 - Agilisys, the leading technology and business process service provider, is pleased to announce that, together with their partner Cumbria County Council, they have been selected to provide the Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) 'Consumer Direct' advice centre for the North West region of the UK.

The advice centre developed by Agilisys and Cumbria County Council will stand as a single point of contact across the North West. The centre will provide comprehensive practical information, knowledge, tools and the confidence people need to resolve consumer problems themselves.

Excellent employment opportunities have been identified, with plans already under way to recruit and train advisors, managers, team leaders, administrative and operational support for the centre which is due to start taking calls in December 2005 and be fully operational by March 2006. Up to fifty new recruits will undertake an extensive training course and receive full accreditation before commencing in the advice centre located in Barrow-in-Furness, ensuring the highest quality of service.

Charles Mindenhall, Agilisys CEO said of recruitment plans 'The advice centre will be handling quite complex enquiries from the general public, and at high volumes. We will be investing in a significant amount of training and we are confident that with the right people we will deliver first class services to citizens of the North West region of the UK.'

The 'Consumer Direct' programme, funded by the DTI, is a vision to deliver high quality and consistent consumer information in a one-stop-shop in eleven regions nationwide. Eight regions have already launched 'Consumer Direct', and now the plans for the North West centre are well under way.

Advice provided by the centre to the public will include clear and practical advice on goods and services purchased; ensuring consumers realise and understand their rights; information on how to avoid scams and ways to report them and information on finding reputable traders.
