At Agilisys, we believe it is simply good business to be a responsible member of the community – by which we mean we consider the impact our actions have on all potential stakeholders as we conduct our business. We think of stakeholders in the broadest sense – from our staff, clients, suppliers and shareholders, to the broader community and environment we live in.
We do not look on corporate responsibility as a box-ticking exercise, rather, we try to make it an inherent part of our business practice; corporate responsibility is not imposed from above at Agilisys, rather it informs and is part of the many day-to-day decisions made by every one of our employees.
Here are just a few examples of how this sense of responsibility touches every part of our business:
In the workplace
Agilisys offers highly flexible working arrangements for staff, which not only allows staff to balance work around their own personal priorities, but also leads to greater productivity.
The Agilisys University also forms an important part of our commitment to corporate responsibility, as it represents our commitment to helping Agilisys employees to develop and grow within the company and map out their own respective career paths.
In the marketplace
Where possible, we work with local suppliers, encouraging small business growth along with our own. We aim to foster local community regeneration where possible, in particular through our long term partnerships with local authority clients including Rochdale, Oldham, Cumbria, and Hammersmith and Fulham.
In the environment
As a knowledge-based services company, we have a relatively small environmental impact; we regularly review our practices to reduce this impact where possible, and actively encourage staff to suggest changes that could be rolled out across the company. For example, we recently implemented one suggestion to make the ‘default’ printer setting ‘double-sided’ printing, reducing our paper use by 40%. This is only one small step in our efforts towards attaining ISO 14001 accreditation, which we hope to gain later this year.
In the community
To date Agilisys has worked with a number of charities including the Charity Technology Trust (CTT) and Operation Smile. Charity Technology Trust (CTT) a registered UK charity formed specifically to increase the efficiency of other charities by using new technology and the internet. The trust builds on the knowledge and experience of technology partner companies such as Agilisys to help the charity sector take advantage of new technology. Throughout the world, Operation Smile volunteers repair childhood facial deformities while building public and private partnerships that advocate for sustainable healthcare systems for children and families. Agilisys has donated office space and infrastructure services to Operation Smile UK to allow them to focus on their core activities. In addition, Agilisys has designed and developed the Operation Smile UK website and continues to provide on-going website hosting services.
