HAMMERSMITH & FULHAM WINS 2007 LOCAL GOVERNMENT IT EXCELLENCE AWARDS

The London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham's Customer Access Strategy, developed in partnership with Agilisys, has won the 12th Annual Local Government IT Excellence Awards

London, UK, October 19th 2007 – Agilisys, the UK’s most innovative IT and business process service provider, is delighted to announce that Hammersmith & Fulham’s Customer Access Strategy, developed in partnership with Agilisys, has won the 12th Annual Local Government IT Excellence Awards organised by Intellect, SOCITM and SOLACE. The announcement came at the SOCITM annual conference in Belfast on October 16th.

Presenting the award, Charles Ward, chief operating officer of Intellect and chair of the judging panel, commented, "The customer access strategy is a fantastic example of how IT can be used to help local authorities better understand their customers' needs and expectations. The solution has enabled the borough to develop a long-term strategy of personalising service provision, and is an excellent example of transformational government in action."

“Winning the Intellect Award is an excellent result” says HFBP Partnership Director Alan Titheridge. “We employed an innovative approach, using consumer demographic information and actual data on usage of services to enable the Council to make informed decisions on their services – the first time that this approach has been used in a government organisation.”

“The recognition of this work is particularly timely given the publication of the Government’s Service Transformation Agreement in October 2007. This sets out the strategic actions the public sector needs to take – including using an evidence-based approach to learn from citizens, grouping services in ways that are meaningful to the customer, and making better use of customer information which is already held. The customer access strategy has firmly placed Hammersmith & Fulham as leaders among local government”.
