Principal Building Surveyor

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To Lead, motivate and direct a Team of professional Building Surveyors and to assist in the development and implementation of the business strategy, to assist in the achievement of the agreed financial, commercial and growth targets and to contribute towards the vision, values aims ands objectives of the Impact

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To manage the Team to achieve the Business Plan targets and support the Business to contribute to the strategic growth targets.
  • To establish and maintain effective working relationships with key clients and partners, potential key targets and ensure the delivery of a responsive and professional service.
  • To ensure the technical excellence of the team and provide qualitative and accurate technical reports and specifications for clients.
  • To provide a monthly team operational report covering financial performance, quality, resources and future requirements.
  • To assist with the development of systems and processes to ensure the effective management of project delivery in line with agreed objectives, timescales, costs and other KPI’s, SLA’s and client briefs
  • To undertake regular reviews of all key projects within team and proactively engage with Project or Account Managers, clients and stakeholder groups to gather feedback and service improvement initiatives.
  • To support the management team in preparing marketing, business and financial plans. And to support the review and implementation of these plans.
  • To assist with Business Development activities for the Business Unit, including assisting in preparing bid documents and presenting papers and reports.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement systems within the Professional Team and gain the commitment of the team to deliver business and professional excellence at all times.
  • Develop and maintain effective team working across the Professional Team, Business Division and other areas of Impact Partnership and the Mouchel organisation to ensure the delivery of a full range of professional services to the client.
  • To implement a robust Performance Management processes within the Team ensuring that staff are clear about expectations and standards of performance required.
  • To develop the people resources and potential within the team ensuring that succession management and development initiatives are in place to maximise potential and identify future managers.
  • To have team responsibility for health and safety, quality and environmental matters ensuring compliance with KPI’s, policy and procedures and for employing safe systems at work.
  • To ensure that all sub contract appointments comply with Impact Partnership guidelines and are competitive and appropriate for work content.
  • To contribute towards the vision, values, aims and objectives of the Impact Partnership.
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to and understanding of Diversity issues
  • Any other duties commensurate with the post.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Qualifications
  • Degree educated or equivalent (desirable)
  • Professionally qualified (essential & job specific)
  • 5yrs experience (job specific)

 

Knowledge
  • Awareness of the issues and processes within area of business
  • Knowledge of all aspects of legislative compliance, including Employment Law, Health & Safety and Environment
  • Awareness of topical Political issues in both central and local Government
  • Competitor and Market knowledge

 

Experience
  • Experience of managing human, physical and financial resources
  • Working with local government clients and stakeholders (desirable)
  • Experience of project management and service delivery
  • Business Development (desirable)
