Senior Programme Manager

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

At Agilisys, Senior Programme Managers are part of a strategic Programme Management capability working on a broad portfolio of technology implementation, systems integration and business transformation programmes, in a very dynamic environment.

The Role

A client facing strategic role requiring client engagement at board level. You will have previous experience of working with bid and account management teams, in order to shape and influence the deal. You will have a proven track record of translating solution architecture into a feasible programme of work. Having had experience and responsibility for the delivery of large scale consulting and systems integration projects, you are now seeking an opportunity that offers growth, challenges and potential.

You will be a manager with ten plus years consulting experience, preferably within a Programme or Portfolio Management role. The role is focused on managing a broad portfolio of work across the programme lifecycle, from developing business cases, to oversee implementation and then optimisation and review.

 

The Candidate

  • The Programme Director has deep knowledge and understanding of programme and project management in a business solutions environment.
  • Sufficiently knowledgeable about business change consulting and information technology to be able to work effectively with experts in these areas.
  • Work confidently at the most senior executive level, whether within the client, Agilisys or among alliance partners.
  • Has the personal responsibility for the delivery of large scale (above £2million) consulting and systems integration projects.
  • Has proven experience of working within a matrix organisation and building relationships internally with the aim of maximising the effectiveness of internal resources and competencies.
  • Enable cross-functional teams to work in parallel by providing guidance and direction in support of the business and technical solution architecture.
  • Ability to work with and influence client staff at all levels
  • Operate as a leader but get involved at the team level when required Work effectively in diverse and multi-cultural environments.
  • Must have extensive experience successfully handling very large and complex environments through full a life cycle from business & technology forecasting and strategy, through systems implementation and integration to successful handover to the relevant support teams.
  • Experience of major budgetary control - 250k - 10m+
  • Managing 25 + senior members of staff
  • Negotiating with 3rd party suppliers and reporting directly to board level essential.
  • Must have a good knowledge of PM methodologies e.g. Prince 2 and MSP as well as excellent motivational/mentoring, problem solving and decision making skills.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creating and maintaining client relationships at board level
  • Building and farming existing accounts to maximise revenue generation
  • Provide business consultancy and strategic advice to key clients
  • Exercise expertise within our core domains as part of the business development process
  • Work with the programme & project manager(s) to ensure that strategic goals are estimated and costed
  • Feed this back through to the client within a benefits realisation framework
  • Ensuring smooth delivery of projects with a value over £250K within workstreams totalling £2m+
  • Working with the PMO to evolve and develop the Project Management methodology
  • Act as a point of escalation for any programme & project-related matters

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge
  • 5 to 10+ years in consulting or a similar profession
  • Familiar with a variety of the technical and business strategy concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Strong technical background and understanding of key technical constraints and concepts.

 

Skills
  • Strong programme management skills
  • Strong communication skills and work ethic
  • Ability to manage large teams and senior groups
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Performs a variety of tasks.

 

Qualifications
  • Level 4 Diploma Project and Programme Management
  • Prince 2 and/or MSP Practitioner
  • APM and/or PMI Qualifications

 

Qualities
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
