We’re proud to be continuing our long-term partnership with Wigan Council, a collaboration that has grown over the past three years into one of the most mature and impactful AI programmes in UK local government.
What began as carefully governed pilots has evolved into everyday, frontline use of AI across Adult Social Care, SEND and corporate services. Working in close partnership with Agilisys, Wigan has embedded AI directly into workflows to reduce administrative burden, strengthen professional practice, and release thousands of hours back into services.
More than 600 staff now use AI tools to support assessments, EHCP drafting, case auditing and meeting administration, moving practitioners away from time-consuming documentation and towards professional judgement, analysis and direct work with residents.
Building on this success, the new three-year strategic partnership will focus on scaling proven tools, strengthening governance, and positioning Wigan as a national reference point for responsible AI in local government. Together, we’re moving beyond experimentation to sustainable, organisation-wide transformation that delivers measurable outcomes for staff and communities alike.
