Needs Assessment Genie

AI that drafts adult social care needs assessments — so social workers can focus on people, not paperwork. Built inside Wigan Council. 300+ social workers using it. 50% drafting time saved.

What Needs Assessment Genie does

Care Act assessments are the gateway to adult social care. Each one requires a social worker to gather information from the person, their family, and professionals — then write a structured assessment that captures needs, strengths, risks, and outcomes.

Needs Assessment Genie takes the structured input from practitioners and produces a draft assessment aligned to Care Act requirements. The social worker reviews, refines, and signs off. The conversation with the person stays human. The write-up gets automated.

Built from the ground up inside Wigan Council’s adult social care team, shaped by the people who do this work every day. Not a generic AI tool repurposed — a purpose-built product for a specific statutory workflow.

1

Gather information

Social worker has the conversation with the person. Captures needs, strengths, and outcomes through structured input.

2

AI drafts the assessment

Structured to Care Act requirements. Minutes, not hours. Consistent quality across the whole team.

3

Social worker reviews

Professional judgement stays with the professional. The AI handles the documentation.

Built inside Wigan Council

Needs Assessment Genie wasn’t built in a lab. It was co-created inside Wigan Council’s adult social care team over a 10-year embedded partnership. Social workers shaped the product from day one — what to automate, what to leave to professional judgement, how the output should read.

The result: a tool that fits real workflows, not one that forces new ones. Wigan achieved a CQC “leading” rating (95/100, highest in England) with these tools supporting frontline practice.

The skills transfer model means councils learn to extend and configure the platform themselves. With or without us, the capability stays.

Part of the Adult Social Care bundle

Needs Assessment Genie works alongside Minutes Genie and Case Auditing as an integrated adult social care suite. Reduce admin, improve quality, enable oversight — across the whole team, not just individual practitioners.

Start with one product. Expand when you’re ready. Each stands alone, but together they cover the full ASC workflow from assessment through to quality assurance.

We’ll show you the product working — not slides, not a recording. You’ll see the output quality, the speed, and whether it’s worth piloting in your council. 30 minutes. No commitment.
