The intrinsic value of data is in the decisions it drives and the outcomes it supports. Maximising value can therefore be about improving the data the NHS has, or refining the insights and evidence that underpin why a decision is made. On the operational side, this means embedding data into those otherwise gut-feel decisions, whereas the even more ambitious strategic demands of Integrated Care Systems like population health management, ICS partner gainshare, and personalised care plans will prove more challenging still.
